Myth 1: If you’re Behind, Run It Twice
The choice of whether to run a hand twice does not favor the player who is behind, nor does it favor the player who is in front. Running it twice, or three times, or four times does not affect expected value. What it does do is reduce variance.

Myth 2: Men are Better Poker Players than Women
In poker, it’s all about the skills and strategies, not about gender. Plus, there are so few female participants compared to male players. There are talented women players like Annie Duke, Jennifer Harman, Vanessa Selbst, Annette Obrestad. Maria Ho has 82 cashes in WSOP events.

Myth 3: Poker is All About Luck
Poker is no more than a game of chance is by far the most widespread poker myth. But poker isn’t solely a game of blind luck, Poker is a blend of the cards you’re dealt and the skills you employ to secure victory.

Myth 4: Online Poker is Rigged
Online poker is by and large heavily regulated and scrutinized, and reputable poker sites have very little to gain, and everything to lose by deliberately rigging the games for action. A common belief is that online poker sites deliberately set their algorithm to induce players to bet more.

Myth 5: There Are More Bad Beats in Online Poker
One of the gripes some players have with online poker is the fact there are allegedly more bad beats and setups online than in a live poker environment. This one is not actually a myth, but a fact.

There are technically more bad beats online, but this simply has to do with the sheer speed of online poker compared to live poker. More hands played means more bad beats on average.
